Corby Masonic Complex AGM 2025
Welcome and Opening With over 35 members present, the Interim Chairman, WBro Steve Burton, welcomed everyone to the meeting and confirmed the order of business for the evening.
Treasurer’s Report
WBro Jeff Freeman described the year as one of major change for the Complex, both in terms of the building and its financial position.
- Project 2025 was delivered on time and on budget, thanks to the efforts of volunteers.
- Finances remain healthy, but caution was advised going forward.
- Capitation costs will remain the same this year.
- Festive Board prices for Corby Lodges will be reduced to £16 (2 courses) and £18 (3 courses).
- The extra charge for cheese and biscuits will no longer apply.
- The finances were then approved by the members present.
Chairman’s Report
The Interim Chairman thanked the volunteers once again for their support. He announced changes to the Board structure:
- The role of Secretary will be replaced with Facilities Manager, with some Secretary responsibilities moving to the Chairman.
- A letter from WBro Jim Spence was read, explaining his reasons for stepping down last November to care for his late wife.
Elections
- WBro Steve Burton was unanimously elected Chairman.
- WBro Jeff Conisbee was unanimously elected Facilities Manager.
Announcements
- The ante-room will now be available as a second rehearsal room, allowing two lodges to rehearse on the same night.
- An Open Day will take place on September 6th to showcase the changes achieved through Project 2025.
- Questions and Closing After questions and requests for improvements, the meeting was closed.
LAMS Announcement
Following the meeting, Katie Mason addressed members to confirm that the PGM had approved the creation of a Corby branch of LAMS (Lady Associate Members). These groups are for women connected to Freemasons (wives, partners, mothers, daughters, in-laws, etc). Further details will be circulated to Corby Masons in the coming weeks.
