The Corby Masonic Club (CMC) committee met on October 27th, 2020 to review the latest information regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on our complex.

Following this meeting, the Government announced further restrictions. As a result, the Masonic Complex will remain closed until further notice. The position will be reviewed in December 2020, in line with government advice and both national and provincial masonic guidance.

Finances and Support

The committee wishes to thank all brethren for their continued financial support during this difficult period.

  • The finance team has worked to keep overheads as low as possible, reducing costs to members.
  • Although difficult decisions have been made, the priority has always been the financial stability and longevity of the complex.
  • With ongoing support, the finance team is confident the target of long-term financial stability for the CMC will be achieved.

Maintenance and Improvements

Several works have been completed to keep the complex in good order, with materials kept to minimal cost and much of the labor provided voluntarily. These efforts were led by the Complex Chairman.

Completed tasks include:

  • Temporary roof repairs (holding well, even after recent storms).
  • Bar redecorated and tables set for social distancing.
  • Kitchen corridor redecorated.
  • Kitchen and cellar repaired and redecorated.
  • Foyer and toilet corridor redecorated.
  • Shop relocated to the storeroom, redecorated, and screened off.
  • Ante Room redecorated.
  • Car park relined.
  • Fire exit and rear cleared, weed control applied, and gutters cleaned.
  • Entrance floor screed repaired and relaid.
  • COVID safety plan in place with signage and sanitizers installed.

Looking Ahead

With these works now largely complete, the Centre is in a strong position to reopen for Masonic activity as soon as it is deemed safe.

The committee extends its sincere thanks to all who gave their time, skills, and effort in helping with the refurbishment project.
